KSrelief, UK Unveil $10M Tech-Driven Food Security Initiative in Yemen

by admin477351

In a significant move to bolster food security in Yemen, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has joined forces with the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to launch a $10 million initiative. This collaborative effort aims to support vulnerable communities and enhance long-term resilience in the war-torn country.

The project, with each partner contributing $5 million, will be executed by the United Nations World Food Programme. It focuses on several key Yemeni governorates, including Al-Mahrah, Hadramout, Aden, Al-Dhale, and Lahij. By providing conditional cash transfers, the initiative seeks to improve food access, rebuild productive infrastructure, and assist families in moving from emergency aid to self-reliance.

Beyond immediate food assistance, the project incorporates vocational training and support for local governance. These efforts are designed to enhance the sustainable management of community resources and improve overall governance, thus laying a foundation for more stable and self-sufficient communities.

This agreement is a part of Saudi Arabia’s extensive humanitarian outreach through KSrelief, which has been active since 2015. Over this period, KSrelief has implemented more than 4,400 aid projects in 113 countries, with a total expenditure exceeding $8.5 billion.
