Russia has highlighted its expanding missile technology cooperation with India, noting that the jointly produced BrahMos supersonic cruise missile is “soon-to-be hypersonic.” This was part of a larger speech by Ambassador Denis Alipov reaffirming defense ties.
This advancement in missile technology exemplifies the “full technology-sharing” model that Alipov said defines the 60-year partnership.
This successful collaboration is the basis for a new defense push. Alipov announced offers for the Su-57 fifth-generation fighter, as well as drones, anti-drone systems, and advanced radar.
These proposals come at a time of heightened tension with the US. Donald Trump claimed India would stop buying Russian oil, a claim India’s MEA refuted by citing “national interest.”
By highlighting cutting-edge technology like hypersonic missiles, Russia is showcasing the high-value benefits of its strategic partnership with New Delhi, benefits that counter US economic pressure.
