Jaguar Land Rover has taken a significant leap into the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the Range Rover Electric, the company’s first fully electric SUV. This new model, set to be manufactured at the Solihull plant in the UK, marks a pivotal step in the brand’s transition towards sustainable motoring. Customers can now place orders for this luxury electric SUV, with the first deliveries slated for 2027. The vehicle’s base price starts at £154,070, positioning it firmly in the premium segment.

The engineering prowess behind the Range Rover Electric is evident in its performance specifications. It boasts two electric motors that together deliver up to 550PS and 850Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 60mph in just 4.3 seconds. With a driving range that can reach up to 372 miles under the WLTP testing cycle, this vehicle aims to offer both power and endurance. Central to its performance is a 118.5kWh battery that supports 800-volt charging, allowing a rapid charge from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes when conditions are optimal.

Maintaining its commitment to luxury and off-road capability, Range Rover has integrated its traditional design ethos with cutting-edge electric technology. The electric model retains the classic luxury design expected by its clientele, while also introducing revised aerodynamic features to enhance efficiency. Impressively, the vehicle is equipped to handle challenging terrains, including the ability to wade through water up to 900mm deep, ensuring it meets the rugged expectations of its brand.

Years of development and rigorous testing have gone into ensuring the quality and reliability of the Range Rover Electric. This new venture is supported by Jaguar Land Rover’s Wolverhampton facility, which is responsible for producing the battery packs and electric drive units essential to the vehicle. This strategic move not only highlights the brand’s commitment to electrification but also underscores its dedication to retaining production within the UK, supporting local industry and innovation.
