Vietnam and France have reiterated their dedication to enhancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, emphasizing increased cooperation across several sectors including diplomacy, trade, defense, energy, technology, and infrastructure. In a series of discussions held in Hanoi, both nations assessed the progress of their bilateral relations and committed to expediting the execution of their partnership action plan.
Vietnam highlighted the need for greater collaboration in areas such as defense, cybersecurity, nuclear energy, science and technology, and the development of critical minerals and significant infrastructure projects. Additionally, Vietnamese officials urged France to hasten the ratification process of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and to maintain its support for lifting the European Union’s “yellow card” restriction on Vietnamese seafood exports.
From the French perspective, Vietnam is viewed as a pivotal strategic ally within the Asia-Pacific region. France expressed a keen interest in broadening cooperation, particularly in nuclear energy, rare earths, satellite technology, transportation infrastructure, healthcare, and cultural exchanges. Such collaborations are seen as crucial for both nations as they navigate the evolving dynamics of the region.
Both countries also committed to enhancing their coordination on regional and global issues, reinforcing their shared dedication to promoting multilateralism, dialogue, and sustainable development. This mutual commitment underscores the importance both Vietnam and France place on working together to address challenges and seize opportunities on the international stage.
