Households in Great Britain are bracing for a significant increase in energy bills starting in July, as regulators have announced a 13% hike in the national energy price cap. The adjustment to the energy price cap will see the average annual household gas and electricity bill climb from £1,641 to £1,862 between July and September, adding roughly £221 to annual energy expenses. Britain’s energy regulator, Ofgem, has indicated that the increase reflects not only higher wholesale gas prices but also persistent market volatility. Under the updated rates, electricity will cost 26.11 pence per kilowatt hour, with gas prices rising to 7.33 pence per kilowatt hour.
